The Bucking Process

If you are designated as the legislative contact for your division, please anticipate the following during the General Assembly Session:

• Email messages including proposed legislation will be sent to your inbox for review

• Messages will be sent from the VP Government Relations account (govrel@vcu.edu)

• If needed, an action will be requested in the message (see examples)

• Review of companion legislation

• Proposed legislation may impact more than one division

• Government Relations staff may follow-up with you to seek clarification or to obtain additional information

• At “crossover” bill substitutes or amendments may be sent to you for review

• New bills may be similar to legislation proposed during previous sessions
